You can send your GPS location coordinates, video chat, share audio and much more.

Your Banking App

Wire transfers are second nature here, at times it seems that mobile banking is more popular than cash or regular transactions.  You need your Bank App to use for many transactions.  As well, you can transfer straight from your banking app into your Momo so you want to be able to do that at the tip of your fingers.

GPS

You need your GPS, whether it is Google Maps or Waze, you have to have something to help you get around.  Quick note, street numbers are only about five years old in Kigali, therefore even if you say a street number many people won’t recognize the area of the town as they are used to landmarks.  Google can get you there.

Vuba Vuba

Vuba means quickly and you can quickly get anything you want with this delivery app.  From grocery shopping to restaurants, vuba vuba is a GPS based delivery service that ensures that whatever you want comes straight to your door.

Yego

Need a way to get around?  Yego is the place to grab a quick taxi in order to help you get to and fro.  Just input the address and have someone come and pick you up.  Prices for transportation are tracked through the app.

VW Move

VW Move is a similar transportation app, using VW cars so its “better” experience.  These drivers will pick you up and drop you off, using the app to track your pricing and locations.

Twitter

You don’t have to have Twitter on your phone, but it does make it easier.  The fastest way to find out about news, ministry updates or government announcements is Twitter as that is where they send all major and important communication first.  During Covid and restriction updates, the Prime Minister’s twitter feed would be the first updated.  You could also for the Ministry of Health for daily Covid number updates.
